Our Story…

Gifting was something that was introduced to our founder from the time she was a little girl. In 1989, her parents who were educators at the time decided to resign and start their own small business. They took their savings and opened a gift shop in South Africa called “Golden Gifts”.

From the age of four she had the pleasure of being surrounded by gifting items. She would watch her mother sort and organize the stock for the store and enjoyed playing with the gifting supplies and wrappings.

Her entrepreneurial side developed during her time spent assisting and working at the store, especially during the holiday season. Christmas is one of her favorite holidays and her passion for gifting is also due to this holiday and her memories of the buzz and joy at the mall over this time of the year.

Fast forward to her adulthood and our founder went on to study Business and Marketing and used all her years of experience and skills from her parents gift store to develop her own business. Over the years she utilized her knowledge from her studies and combined it with her extraordinary creative ability and talent when working with clients from several different industries. Projects for television shows, fashion weeks, hotels, tourism bodies, non-profits, small and large businesses, global brands and much more.

As a passionate gift-giver, our founder often gifted home-made packages which she created with her dash of creativity. Gifts for friends and neighbors as well as for her husband’s co-workers, teams and colleagues. The reactions of every recipient was unbelievable and unexpected…and was not really why she did it. However being a naturally born entrepreneur, she very soon found a gap in the market for her talent. This realization along with her extensive portfolio of work in the Business and Marketing world led her to create Maison du Trésor as a much needed solution for the gifting world. The days of gifting a branded mug is over!

Here’s some of the raving reactions…
